I would love to know if this is possible, or if I need to bite the bullet on this one and spend the 1K and this time give it a static MAC and keep a good record. The quickest way to find the MAC address is through the command prompt. For information about the correct format for network addresses, see Network address formats and protocols. Type the network address for the computer or server in the Server Address field.
I have looked for hours and can't find anything with the old Mac In the Finder on your Mac, choose Go > Connect to Server. Windows and find out what the old Mac Address was? I would have to think that Windows would log the issuance of Mac Addresses in Hyper V.especially since it tends to change them all the time. Tech Support said we would have to purchase another $1K license due to this. We of course did not know this at the time, but now the software is unusable the license agreement says you can't transfer the license to a new machine. There was licensed software on that server that apparently bound to the MAC address. For Individual and Designated Computer licenses, the Host ID can be either the Volume Serial Number of the C: drive, or the MAC address of the network adapter. You can get the MAC address for your computer using the following command: Open Command prompt window Press and hold the Windows key and press R key. 1 Type cmd into the Windows Search bar, right-click Command prompt, and then select Run as administrator. A problem arose the other day with where one of the servers changed their mac address. If you can log in to the computer remotely with administrative access (and it's also running Windows), you can use the getmac command to view every MAC address on that device. I have a Hyper V 2012 DC failover Cluster with about 30 Servers operating on it.
